During the month of July, Independents for Canberra is open to nominations for support candidates, offering an opportunity for newcomers to dive into electoral campaigning.
With widespread dissatisfaction toward major parties' responsiveness to critical issues like housing affordability and economic sustainability, Independents for Canberra is dedicated to injecting fresh, grassroots leadership into the ACT Legislative Assembly.
We're calling on everyday heroes who embody the diverse voices of Canberra.
- Role Overview: We're seeking support candidates eager to embark on their first electoral campaign journey. Support candidates will participate in the October 2024 ACT election with a flexible time commitment compared to lead candidates.
- Time Commitment: This role is designed to fit into your busy life, allowing you to contribute as few or as many hours as your schedule permits—a perfect opportunity for gaining political experience without a full-time commitment.
- Benefits/What You Gain: Join us to gain valuable experience in political campaigning, network with influential community members, contribute to a growing grassroots movement, and develop leadership and organisational skills—essential enhancements for your resume.
