It’s been incredibly exciting to start introducing our candidates to the public over the last 10 days, with more to come through the remainder of this week!
In case you missed it, we’ve now announced lead candidates for Ginninderra (Mark Richardson) and Brindabella (Vanessa Picker and Nicole Lawsonn). You can learn a bit about them here.
We’ve had a good response in the media to our announcements, with a write-up about Mark in the Canberra Times here and Riotact stories here and here.
You can also listen to excerpts from interviews on 2CC with Mark here, with Vanessa here and with Nicole here.
What About Sue Read?
We’ve had a couple of people ask what happened to Sue Read, one of our prospective lead candidates for Ginninderra. Unfortunately, Sue was unable to commit to running after family matters emerged that required her to withdraw. She has kindly offered her support in other ways, and we very much look forward to leaning on that over the coming months.
What About Policy Commitments?
Today all the candidates came together and planned out the next phase of the campaign, which is focused on hitting the streets and building a policy platform. Candidates aligned around some shared mission statements – things the group wants to achieve for Canberra – and will flesh those out with tangible policy positions before going public with our platform from July.
This will build on what we’ve been hearing in our conversations with people across the ACT, which we’ve pulled together into a vision statement here. We’ll be reverting back to you for input along the way so please stay tuned and, as always, reach out with your priorities and ideas at any time!
More from us soon,
Tom
