It's exciting to feel the momentum building around the independent movement and to have increasing numbers of Canberrans getting in touch to share their views, offer to help, make financial contributions to support the cause and put their hands up to run as candidates. Thank you for your interest and involvement!
For those of you who have reached out about volunteering, we're organising a gathering to bring everyone together and chat about how we can accept your help. You'll hear about that very soon.
We have a similar gathering taking place this week with people who've put their hands up as potential candidates.
Community Meetings
Thank you to everyone who came out for Sunday's Murrumbidgee Community Meeting. Most people we're hearing from at these events love Canberra because of its natural beauty, green open spaces, ease of living and sense of community. Recurring priorities so far include fixing our healthcare system, making improvements to public education, ensuring development speaks to the landscape and maximises liveability, making public transport work for people, and addressing social isolation.
Our first Yerrabi Community Meeting is this Sunday 24 March from 4pm to 5.30pm at Wildbark (at Mulligans Flat). Yerrabi covers the entire district of Gungahlin plus Giralang, Kaleen and Hall.
Please RSVP here and share the event with anyone you know who lives in the electorate of Yerrabi and wants to have a say in the future of their neighbourhood and our city.
This is an opportunity to meet the team behind Independents for Canberra, learn more about what we're up to and, above all, share your views on what you want from your elected representatives in the ACT. We have so many challenges to tackle and we're ready to tackle them. We'd love to know where you want us to start!
After Easter, we're heading to Ginninderra (Belconnen) and Brindabella (Tuggeranong) on April 7 and 14 respectively with venues TBC - stay tuned for details.
